Bank officials greeted visitors and engaged in live demonstrations of mobile-app drivers, digital payments and real-time analytics tools targeted at SMEs and individual customers.

During the afternoon, Wadaag Bank’s head of IT, Mr Mohamoud, took the stage as a panellist on Technology in the Finance Industry. He addressed how financial institutions in Somaliland can embrace automation, advanced analytics and user-centric platforms to increase financial inclusion, streamline operations and expand access.
Mr Mohamoud highlighted Wadaag Bank’s new initiative to integrate AI-enabled credit-scoring, real-time transaction monitoring, and a simplified mobile onboarding process. He stressed: “In our market, the next frontier is not simply having digital channels, but making those channels smart — responsive, tailored to customer needs, and built on trust.”
His comments resonated with the audience which included fintech entrepreneurs, regulators and tech investors.

The bank’s participation at the Tech Expo comes at a time when Somaliland is accelerating efforts to modernise its financial sector. Wadaag Bank’s leadership sees this event as a strategic opportunity to position itself as a leader in digital banking and fintech innovation in the region. Looking ahead
Following the expo, Wadaag Bank announced plans to roll out a new “Smart Business Suite” platform in early 2026, which will combine small-business lending, expense-management tools and integrated payment capabilities. The bank also pledged continued investment in fintech talent and digital infrastructure.
